Generate Money From a Website or Web Blog

Let me start off by saying there are numerous methods to generate an income from your website or web blog. But all these methods have one thing in common; they all revolve around advertising in some way, shape or form.

The top three ways of generating money from a website are (in no particular order) Google’s Adsense, Commission Junction and ClickBank. Each method is completely free to set up and extremely easy to use. So lets me try and explain how each of the mediums creates an income for you.

Adsense: Google Adsense is an advertising medium that works via (PPC) Pay-Per-Click. So, for every person that clicks on your ad, which is displayed on your site. You are reward with an amount of money; each amount varies on what you’re advertising and who you’re advertising for.

Now, the beautiful thing about this method is Google automatically decides what ads to show on your site. Each ad is targeted to the content on your site, meaning there is no setting up for you to do. All you have to do is cut and paste the ad code onto your site and Google does the rest. For an example of a Google Ad, look towards the bottom of this article.

Commission Junction: Now, this is an extremely effective way to generate a great income. How it works is simple, you apply for the program, chose a publisher. Then display their ads on your site. It works best if you’re advertising something that fits with the theme of your site. So, say your site was based around music, then you’d advertise a music company. That being said, this method works by commission. You are rewarded for each user that signs up for a service or buys a product/item after having clicked on your ads.

Once a user has clicked on your ad, you’ll be rewarded with a commission; each commission varies via who you advertise and what the user buys. Now, the beauty of Commission junction is; whoever you advertise, they gives you free banners/text ads for you to display on your site. This makes selling their items extremely easy as well as almost effortless on your behalf. Sadly though, you do not get pay-per-click and users are less inclined to buy a product opposed to clicking on an ad.

ClickBank: This method works exactly the same as Commission Junction, you are rewarded by commission based on what you sell. The only difference between the two is that Commission Junction allows you to basically sell anything. When I mean “anything” I am referring to any product that can be used online, or at home. Whereas, ClickBank only allows you to sell information/digital products (products that can only be used on a computer). Also, unlike Commission Junction, ClickBank does not offer banners to help you sell the product.

So, as briefly explored above; there are 3 main methods that are used by website masters to generate an income. For more information on how to sign up for each program, visit the following links.

The big positive about affiliate marketing is that it allows you to earn an income without actually having to create and advertise your own product. By becoming an affiliate marketer, you can collect a commission every time someone follows your affiliate link to the site of the actual product seller and makes a purchase.

The size of your commission will vary depending on the product for which you are an affiliate, and your methods of promoting it, but they can run as high as 75%.

If you have a blog and would like to start monetizing it by becoming an affiliate, there is a trio of affiliate program providers which you should investigate. They are Commission Junction, Click Bank, and Link Share.

In order to maximize the percentage of the commissions you receive, you should sign up with either Click Bank or Commission Junction, which set up affiliate programs for all the big membership websites and vendors of informational products, and those programs are usually the most lucrative. Standard commissions range from 25% to 75%.

Should you choose Click Bank as the place to promote your affiliate programs, beware of the payment threshold. It can be set as high as $100, meaning that Click Bank will not pay you any of your commission earnings until you have accumulated $100. If you would prefer to get small checks every couple of weeks, you’ll have to change the threshold setting yourself.

If you want to find some affiliate programs with huge audiences, Link Share is the place to go. They will allow you to affiliate yourself with some of the biggest names around, like Walmart, PetSmart, and even Apple.

Although their affiliate commission are considerably lower than those offered by Commission Junction and Click Bank, at around 5% to 15%, the chances of someone buying multiple or big ticket items from those vendors is much higher. You can expect the companies which pay commissions through Link Share to issue payments once a month.

Don’t see any companies whose products you’d like to promote among those offered by Click Bank, Commission Junction, or Link Share? You have the option of being an affiliate marketer for Google’s AdSense and AdWords, or for Ebay. Both have commission structures which will make it worth your while.

Money Making Ideas

Many people are looking for ways to make money without having to invest a ton of money, or any money at all. Some of these people have turned to the internet to make their fortunes. The internet is a great place for anybody to make money, because it doesn't require you to have an office or a building. Many of the top online entrepreneurs don't even have any employees. And there are hundreds of people making a living completely online. Even some kids have started using the internet to make some money online. In this article I will explain 3 ways that people use the internet to make money online.

1) Affiliate Mall

Have you ever considered owning your own mall? In most malls you would have to own your own giant building, which would cost you millions of dollars to build, or to buy. However if you were to do this online you could do this for free. Of course online malls or affiliate malls (as I will call them in this article), are slightly different from traditional malls. With traditional malls, you have many small sections, or stores, that people can rent out from you. And this is how you make your money. With affiliate malls you put pictures of other people's products, information about their product, and a link to their site, using something called an affiliate link, which tracks who you refer to their store.

Every time someone buys the product that you are selling, you make a percentage of the price that it sold for. To find affiliate programs to promote you could search with Google or Yahoo, which would take a ton of time to find each product to promote. Or you could join an affiliate network (or two). And promote the products in the affiliate network.

I recommend that you join the following two affiliate networks:

1) Clickbank
2) Commission Junction.

Also to create your site you could do it manually which would first off take a lot of time, and second off would require you to know html and other things like that. Or you could use a pre-made mall that would probably include mostly Clickbank products. I recommend the later as it would be a much easier to do. The downside is that they take some of the sales at random (usually around 10%) as their own, in order to pay for the service that they are giving away.

Of course you still need to get traffic to your site. However this is a bit beyond the scope of this article so you will have to learn how to get traffic to your site on your own. But once you learn how to do it won't be hard to duplicate the process over and over again.

2) Blogs

You could also create your own blog. To do this you could use a program owned by Google called Blogger. This automatically creates a blog for you. And you just need to write short articles for the blog and promote the blog. Try to create your blog about a specific topic such as politics, or the stock market, etc. Just choose something that you are interested in and write articles about it. To make money you could either use a program called Google Adsense which allows you to put ads on your site, and you get paid every time someone clicks on the ads. Or you could use affiliate programs. I recommend that you use a combination of both.

3) Article Marketing

The final method to make money online that I will mention is called article marketing. This is where you write an article and submit them to article directories such as Ezine Articles. You then get a resource box where you can include information about various products as well as links the product or products. You would include your affiliate link.* Or you could include a link to your own website/blog.

These are some of the methods that you can use to make money online. These are definitely worth looking into if you want to make money. You may also want to use a combination of these methods. For example you could create a blog, and promote it using article marketing.

Optimization Tips

The Google AdSense program can be a powerful way to make money online. However most people that use AdSense on their sites are not using proper optimization to maximize their revenue. If you do not have an account then you will need to get one first. Make sure that your site is complete and looks professional.

If you are just starting out as an internet marketer then you can create a blog at Blogger and make a useful post on it then use your blog to apply. Usually Google will accept you if you have a blog especially on one of their own sites like Blogger. Once you are accepted into the program do not fool around and violate their terms and conditions.

You may be tempted to try a lot of things when it comes to making money with AdSense but you need to stay focused on a long term strategy for success so stay away from the methods that promise to make you a quick buck and never violate the terms and conditions of the program otherwise you may get banned from a program that could easily replace your day job income many times over.

The long term strategy for success is to create one or a handful of authority sites that receive heavy free traffic from the search engines. Creating an authority site is another article altogether but some quick tips would be to add lots of original content regularly and use something like article marketing to spread the word about your site as well as build link popularity.

Now once your site starts getting traffic you need to be able to maximize the click through rates on your ads to maximize your income. Make sure that you are also operating in a niche that has dense advertiser competition. This will help in increasing your pay per click because the average bids will be higher but do not expect to receive a dollar or more per click. Be satisfied with an average pay per click in the double digit cents, anything higher is a bonus.

The colors of your ads are very important. Make sure the link color on the ads matches that of the main links on your site. Also make the url color black or grey, this will make the ad headline stand out more which is good because most AdWords advertisers are good at writing catchy titles.

Make sure you remove the borders from the ads also as ads that have borders tend to get ignored because people immediately recognize them as ads. The idea is to make people notice your ads and if they notice them and the ads are relevant then there is good chance that they could get clicked on.

The program while there is no mention of this on their site, tends to reward those sites that have great content, are genuinely useful and are considered authority sites. Make sure your site really is of the greatest quality you can make it, also be sure to have a privacy, about us, contact us and sitemap pages on your site.

Place ads directly in your main content. For instance if you have an article then put some AdSense just after the first paragraph and have the words on the article wrap around the content. You are allowed 3 ad units and 2 link units so if you have a lot of content then be sure to use all of the allowable ads. Remember to only put ads on content rich pages. Follow some of these strategies to optimize your ads and make the most money possible.

Blogging

You can earn extra income on you blog as well by working in partnership with Google. Google is the largest search engine on the Internet and they are willing to pay you if you will place their ads on your blog. Each time a visitor click on the ad, you get paid.

There is still more to learn from blogging and Google adsense where you can earn a perfect living. Using Google search will be a good avenue for sourcing for more information.

Serious blogging can be about marketing one's business, earning money from AdSense or pay per review, spreading one's ideas and lots more. How to Use your Blog to Generate AdSense Income can be quite pricey if you have a lot of traffic and web pages. By simply putting in Google AdSense Ads code on their website, or the more popular and easier way via blogging, you are all ready to go and become the next "Super G AdSense" earner.

As if all that wasn't enough, there are now article banks, which, similar to the blogging communities previously mentioned, will split AdSense revenue associated with your articles with you. Word Press blogging software has a plug in that easily allows you to place AdSense Ads anywhere on your pages as well as all current pages on your blog. For example, they positioned themselves as the product creation expert, the web copy writing expert, the tele-seminar expert, the super affiliate, the AdSense specialist, blogging specialist, etc.

But if you are blogging to make sales, promote products, build lists, and earn AdSense or yahoo revenue, and want the search engines to visit know about you everyday, then this is very key for you. This is especially true with blogging scripts and tools, AdSense (you want to see one of their sites), or any other marketing techniques. Two of these are detailed below: Blogging For AdSense Profit This is pretty straightforward - you can now sign up to blogging networks which, in return for content provided by you, will split any AdSense profit 50 - 50.

This is why AdSense is ideal for blogging websites. In my "Marketing Rampage with Blogs and RSS" Videos, I show you how you can customize your Blog template to include the Google AdSense into your Blog template so that you can make money blogging. Besides placing advertisers ads on your Blog, you can also make money Blogging by placing Google AdSense into your Blog. Webmasters can make extra money blogging through AdSense, sponsorships, ad programs, and affiliate marketing.

Ad Publishing Program

For many people, Google's Adsense publishing program is responsible for their very first taste of an online income. It may be pennies and cents but that first time you look in your account and see a credit is an exciting moment; the possibilities suddenly open up before you as you finally realize that all those stories of online businesses and internet income are based on truth.

It is possible for anyone to earn money online. Yes, it is just pennies and cents, and it is sporadic if you aren't systematic about your website or your business; but it is, at least, a taste of success which becomes sweeter as time passes and more pennies and cents slowly trickle into your account.

Since Google took over the developer blog network 'Blogger', even more people have experienced this first light at the end of the tunnel. It is easy to go to Blogger.com, create an account and within a few short minutes have Google Adsense advertisements appearing on your blog and ready to pay you. The opportunities on the internet for an income are huge, and Google Adsense is only one of them but, it is such a simple program, easy to join and set up, with a simple payment scheme, that for a beginner or advanced player it is difficult to ignore.

What many don't realize is that the small text adverts, which look like ordinary classified ads, which appear on countless web pages and display the words "ads by Google" below them are at the root of the Google company's billions of dollars of profit each year. Yes, Google has expanded in many directions and draws a profit from many different enterprises; but it is from these seemingly innocent advertisements that their initial massive success came, and it is from these advertisements that their continued profits derive.

The system whereby these adverts are created and displayed is one which has the bare minimum of administration by Google, and runs almost like a "self service" laundrette for advertisers and publishers. It was a unique idea when it first began, and while Google isn't the only user of this technique, it is certainly the most successful user.

In the old days of internet advertising, advertisements would appear on websites in much the same way as they would appear in magazines and other print media. A website owner, known as a publisher would display an advertisement and, depending upon the popularity of the website, he or she would get paid a publishing fee by the advertiser.

This is the traditional model of advertising from the off-line print and publishing world. The problem with this model for web pages, though, is that it's difficult to track. There was no way of knowing precisely how many people saw the advert, or how effective it was. Advertisers love to link advertising revenue with sales and there was no way of making that link conclusively. A website may go in and out of popularity far quicker than a magazine might, and a website owner with an eye on profits might fill up his pages with adverts thereby destroying the effectiveness of each again, something which a popular magazine would be unlikely to do.

This meant that the price paid for placing an advertisement was never a clear cut deal - unlike magazines and newspapers whose advertisement sizes and positions had been established over decades and advertisers lacked confidence in the new medium overall.

The answer to all these problems came in the shape of PPC, or Pay Per Click, advertising. The essence of Pay Per Click is that an advertiser only pays a publisher when their advertisement is clicked on by a visitor. This means that it doesn't matter how often an advert appears on a website, and it doesn't matter how big or small it is, if no one clicks on it then the advertiser doesn't pay.

This system is at the heart of Google's Adsense program - all those small text ads, and many others besides, are representative of this system. Each time one of those little ads is clicked on, the advertiser pays the website that displays it. But that's not all the engine behind the Adsense adverts is Google Adwords.

The Google Adwords program is the other side of Adsense. If Adsense is the publisher's side of advertising, then Adwords is the advertiser's side. When a business, service, or anyone in fact wants to advertise themselves, their product or service, they go to Google Adwords. It is almost as simple a procedure as Adsense. Traditionally, to advertise in a magazine, newspaper or periodical of any kind it was necessary to book space in advance, pay a designer to design your advert, pay a copywriter to write your advert, have the artwork created, pay in advance and submit by the deadline for your issue.

You would need to negotiate with a sales department and sign agreements. Good rates were based on good working relationships and regular custom; Adwords broke through all that. When an advertiser joins Google Adwords, he simply keys in the target keywords for his ad, writes the few short lines of text to appear in the ad, and then decides how much he want to pay. The ad will appear on Google's search engine results pages whenever the target keyword is searched upon, and will also appear on any websites targeting the keyword, which are displaying Google Adsense adverts.

The rate of the advertiser's fee is based purely upon the popularity of the keywords he has chosen to target the more popular a keyword is, then the more advertisers will be targeting it; and the more costly it is when someone clicks on an ad. In fact, the whole process is automated those who set a higher budget for their ads will have their ads appear in the prime positions but will also pay the most when their ads are clicked on. In effect, "the market" decides the price.

While it is true that those with the bigger budgets will get the better ad placements - that is nothing new in advertising. What is new is that anyone can place an ad on any budget they choose. For less popular keywords you can pay mere pennies and cents for an advertising campaign. The income of Adsense publishers is directly in proportion to the payments of the advertisers; if you have a website displaying Adsense adverts and your website is targeting popular keywords then those higher paying advertiser's fees will be coming to you.

Money Making Tips

Making Money Adsense is one of the easiest online businesses you can imagine. You simply put content on your website, a visitor clicks on it and you have made money. It sounds easy! But is it really? Well, many of us know that people earn staggering amounts of money just by placing Google Adsense ads on their sites.

You know they are already interested in the subject because they've landed on your web site.

Making money with Google Adsense requires you to drive traffic. In fact that is the key. Placing Adsense on your web site is pretty easy. If you go to the Google Adsense web site, they will show you how. You simply copy and paste a specific code to your web site and you are set to go. It has been discovered that you can make more money with adsense ads which blend in with the color scheme of the website. This is because people are more apt to click on them because they don't appear like ads, but instead, like a natural part of your website. If you choose to not go with the same color scheme as your website, you at least want to choose ads which are complimentary.

Once you have your ads set up, it is now time to drive traffic to your web site. You won't make money if you don't see traffic. There are so many ways to receive traffic, online and off-line methods. One way is to place classified ads in your local newspapers. You will want to stay away from placing classifieds in large, untargeted newspapers. They have a ton of classified ads, and they are easy to get overlooked. With smaller publications, your ad is more likely to be seen and to responded to. Another great way to generate traffic to your Adsense sites is to pass flyers, or door knockers. You can also use a car decal.

Many people with offline businesses place these decals on the cars. Article marketing, online classifieds and social networks are another way to drive traffic to your Adsense sites.

These are a few ways to make money with Google Adsense. Again, it is one of the easiest ways to our money because you are not asking anyone to purchase anything, you are simply providing information and allowing your readers to learn more with a simple click. If you are interested in learning more about Google Adsense, you can find some great books online.
